NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The No. 16 Yale women's lacrosse team beat RV Brown 11-6 in the Ivy League Tournament semifinals Friday afternoon at Reese Stadium. The Bulldogs advance to the Ivy League Tournament championship game, Sunday at noon, in which they will face the winner of Friday night's semifinal game between RV Penn and No. 20 Princeton.
Brown scored the first goal of the game but Yale responded with five straight tallies to take control of the game early. The Bears momentarily broke up the Bulldogs' offensive momentum with a goal at 8:16 of the second, but they would not score again until the 1:27 mark of the third. By then the Bulldogs had built a 9-2 lead. Brown got within 9-4 heading into the fourth quarter, then scored the first two goals of the final frame to get within 9-6. But the Bulldogs shut the Bears out for the final 11:52, tacking on two goals for the 11-6 final.
Yale improves to 13-3 (6-1 Ivy League) on the season while Brown falls to 8-7 (4-3 Ivy League).
STATISTICAL LEADERS
- First-year attacker Whitney Froeb led Yale with two assists.
- Junior attacker Ashley Kiernan had a game-high three goals and four points (3-1-4).
- First-year attacker Kate Gould led Yale with a game-high six draw controls.
- Sophomore attacker Kelly Holmes and sophomore defender Lindsay Thomas had a game-high (tie) two caused turnovers each.

TURNING POINT
- After Brown closed within 9-6 in the fourth quarter, the Bears had a chance to close within two but turned the ball over. Yale then scored twice in a span of 42 seconds to go ahead 11-6 with 9:32 left.
