AUSTIN, TX. The No. 36 Yale women's tennis team saw its memorable 2025–26 season come to a close on Saturday afternoon, falling to No. 28 Texas Tech, 4–1, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at the Texas Tennis Center.
The Bulldogs finished the year 19–4 overall after capturing a share of the Ivy League championship and earning the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Championships. Texas Tech improved to 19–10 and advanced in the Austin Regional.
Yale battled throughout the match against a nationally ranked Red Raiders team. Texas Tech claimed the doubles point with wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots, though the Bulldog duo of
Orly Ogilvy and
Leena Friedman held a 4–3 advantage at No. 1 doubles when play was stopped.
In singles,
Julia Werdiger delivered Yale's point with a strong performance at No. 4, defeating Ella Brownback in straight sets, 6–4, 6–4. The Red Raiders answered with victories at No. 2, No. 5 and No. 1 singles to clinch the match.
