NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Five members of the Yale women's track and field will compete at the upcoming NCAA East First Round meet Thursday and Saturday at Kentucky. This meet determines who advances to the NCAA Championships, which take place June 11 and 13 at Oregon's Hayward Field.
First-year
Constanza Acevedo (Colina, Chile) will compete in the javelin throw. First-year
Phoebe Benun (Santa Monica, Calif.) and sophomore
Zoe Martonfi (Eldon, Mo.) will compete in the 3K steeplechase. Junior
Gloria Guerrier (West Hempstead, N.Y.) will compete in the 400 meter hurdles. Junior
Juliette Kosmont (Monterey, Calif.) will compete in the 100m.

Constanza Acevedo
Javelin Throw
- First Round Thursday 1:00 p.m.

Acevedo enters with the 37th best mark among javelin throw competitors at the East First Round, based on her school-record throw of 48.47m at the Mark Young Invitational on Apr. 18 at Yale.
Acevedo is a graduate of Colegio San Juan de Las Condes.
Phoebe Benun and Zoe Martonfi
3000m Steeplechase
- Quarterfinals Saturday 5:40 p.m.

Martonfi enters with the 42nd best time among steeplechase competitors at the East First Round, while Benun ranks 44th. Both established their best times at the Penn Relays on Apr. 23, with Martonfi running a 10:16.68 and Benun running a 10:17.12. Those times rank fourth and fifth, respectively, on Yale's all-time list.
Kayley DeLay '21 holds the school record, 9:25.08 (set in 2022).
This will be their first time competing at the NCAA East First Round.
Benun is a graduate of Santa Monica High School. Martonfi is a graduate of Eldon High School.
Gloria Guerrier
400m Hurdles

- Quarterfinals Saturday 7:25 p.m.

Guerrier enters with the 45th best time among 400 meter hurdles competitors at the East First Round, based on her time of 58.72 at the Ivy League Heptagonal Outdoor Track and Field Championships on May 17 at Princeton.
Guerrier is second on Yale's all-time list in the 400m hurdles, trailing only
Patricia Melton '82's time of 57.86 from 1982.
This will be Guerrier's second time competing at the NCAA East First Round. Last year in Jacksonville, Fla., she placed 35th with a time of 59.11.
Guerrier is a graduate of West Hempstead High School.
Juliette Kosmont
100m
- First Round Thursday 7:00 p.m.

- Quarterfinals Saturday 6:35 p.m.

Kosmont enters with the 33rd best time among 100 meter dash competitors at the East First Round, based on her time of 11.28 at the Ivy League Heptagonal Outdoor Track and Field Championships on May 17 at Princeton. She is the Ivy League Champion in this event.
Kosmont is Yale's record-holder in the event with that time of 11.28. This will be her first time competing at the NCAA East First Round.
Kosmont is a graduate of Santa Catalina High School.
