Bulldogs Fall to No. 11 Oregon in NCAA Regionals

EUGENE, Ore. – The Yale baseball team dropped its opening game of the 2026 NCAA Eugene Regionals to host and top-seeded Oregon on Friday evening at PK Park. The Ducks topped the Bulldogs 14-2 to advance in the winner's bracket. 

Oregon hopped out to a 6-0 lead through five, but the Bulldogs cut into the lead in the top of the sixth. After Yale held Oregon scoreless in the seventh and eighth, the hosts put up eight runs in the ninth to break open the game and claim the win.
With the victory, Oregon, ranked No. 11 nationally, improved to 41-16 overall. The Ducks will play third-seeded Washington State on Saturday evening. The Bulldogs, seeded fourth in the region, dropped to 30-14-1 overall. The Bulldogs will play second-seeded Oregon State in the first game of the day on Saturday afternoon.

  • Yale played in its first NCAA Tournament game since 2017.

  • Friday's matchup marked the first time Yale and Oregon have ever played.
  • Ruiz-Weiss hit his first collegiate home run, a two-run shot in the sixth. He recorded his second multi-hit game of the season.
  • Jack Ohman started the game on the mound for Yale, tossing 4.2 innings while allowing five earned runs. Alex Hwang and Brett Faccio relieved Ohman, letting up a combined eight earned runs.
  • The Bulldogs tallied seven hits and drew seven walks, but stranded 13 runners on base.
  • Yale will square off against Oregon State on Saturday. The Bulldogs previously faced the Beavers at the 2017 Regionals, hosted by Oregon State. The Beavers won twice against the Elis.
