GOLD RIVER, Calif. – The Yale lightweight varsity four finished third in the Petite Final Saturday on Lake Natoma at the 124th running of the IRA National Championships. The result places the Bulldogs ninth overall among varsity fours.
The Bulldogs held down the third spot throughout Saturday's race, finishing in 6:50.3. Georgetown led throughout and finished in 6:48.0, holding off a late charge by Navy (6:49.2). Dartmouth finished fourth (7:07.9).
Yale's four had started competition Friday with time trials, then moved on to the semifinals later in the day. The Bulldogs placed fifth in the semis, putting them in Saturday's Petite Final.
Competition at IRAs concludes Sunday, when Yale's two varsity eights will compete in their respective Petite Finals.
