Yale Athletics Announces Andrea Young as Chief Financial Steward/Senior Associate Athletic Director

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Yale Athletics has announced the hiring of Andrea Young as Chief Financial Steward/Senior Associate Athletic Director. Young brings more than a decade of experience in collegiate athletics finance, business operations, and strategic planning at the Division I level.

In her new role, Young will oversee the department's financial strategy and business operations while supporting Yale Athletics' long-term operational and financial priorities. She will work closely with department leadership and collaborate across the university to support Yale Athletics' commitment to competitive excellence and the student-athlete experience.

"We are thrilled to welcome Andrea to Yale and our athletics family," said Victoria M. "Vicky" Chun, Thomas A. Beckett Director of Athletics. "Andrea brings extensive experience in athletics finance and operations, along with a collaborative and thoughtful leadership style. Throughout her career, she has successfully led complex financial planning initiatives, strengthened operational systems, and partnered closely with coaches and campus colleagues to support organizational success."

Young most recently served as Finance Director for Athletics & Chief Commercial Operations at Georgetown University, where she led financial planning, forecasting, and long-range strategy for a Division I athletics department supporting 30 varsity programs. She partnered closely with athletics leadership and university finance teams on budgeting, resource allocation, operational planning, contracting, and internal controls.

Prior to Georgetown, Young spent more than five years at the University of Delaware, including serving as Senior Associate Athletic Director, Chief Financial Officer & Business Operations. In that role, she directed the financial management of a $50 million operating budget and a $2 million capital budget while overseeing departmental forecasting, reporting, and financial operations.

Young also played a key role in Delaware's transition to the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS), developing and maintaining a 10-year financial forecast to support the department's long-term planning efforts. She established financial controls and operational procedures designed to improve efficiency and ensure compliance with university and NCAA policies.

"It is an honor to join Yale Athletics," said Young. "I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of an organization so deeply committed to the student-athlete experience and competitive excellence. I look forward to partnering with colleagues across the department and university to support strong financial strategy and operations that help the department continue to thrive."

In addition to her business operations responsibilities at Delaware, Young served as the sport administrator for women's rowing and men's soccer. She worked closely with coaches and support staff on program planning, resource allocation, and student-athlete support, and also helped lead a head coaching search in 2023.

Earlier in her career, Young held business operations positions at North Carolina State University and Boston College, where she gained experience in financial reporting, NCAA accounting, scholarship budget management, and operational analysis. Prior to her work in collegiate athletics, she also worked in client services and marketing operations in New York City.

A former Division I women's soccer student-athlete and team captain at the University of Richmond, Young earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Richmond and a master's degree in sport management from Columbia University.
