HENLEY-ON-THAMES, England – The Yale women's crew team delivered a memorable performance on Friday, setting a new Bridge Challenge Plate record with a victory over Leander Club to advance to the semifinals of the Henley Royal Regatta.
"The crew rowed well today and executed the race plan, said
Will Porter, the YWC Head Coach of the Bulldogs. "Step by step down the track they stayed focused and locked in. I am proud of them."
"Beating Leander on their home water is not easy," added Porter. "They are well coached, well-funded and a top program in GB with great athletes."
The Bulldogs crossed the line in a record time of 6:48 to hold off Leander Club and win by a length.
Yale will return to action in the semifinals against Molesey B.C. & Univ. of London on Saturday, July 4 at 5:10 a.m. ET.
