Women’s Soccer Falls at UMass

AMHERST, Mass. – The Yale women's soccer team fell to UMass, 5-1, on Thursday evening at Rudd Field, as the Minutewomen found the back of the net twice in the first half and three times in the second half. Anita Thorvaldsdottir converted a penalty kick in the second half for the Bulldogs' lone goal of the contest..

UMass improved to 5-1-0, and Yale dropped to 3-4-0.

"Disappointed in how we started both halves, said Sarah Martinez, the Loring Family Head Coach of Women's Soccer. "Giving up four goals in the first 10 minutes of each half is us not being ready to play. We created plenty of chances to score goals today but the difference in the game is simple, they were efficient in capitalizing on our mistakes and we were not."

"As we continue to try to define our identity as a group, Sunday is a big one for us to rebound after this disappointing result," added Martinez.
