NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The Yale sailing teams were faced with variable wind conditions over the weekend as a nor'easter hit the East Coast.
The coed team faced puffy, rainy, and windy conditions at the Hoyt Trophy on Sunday, hosted at Brown. The wind came out of the northeast throughout the day at a consistent 11 knots, with puffs reaching into the high 20s. Skipper Morgan Pinckney with crew Annabel Woodworth placed fourth in A division, and skipper Dorothy Mendelblatt with crews Wyatt Kelly and Genevieve Schmidt placed fifth in B division. Ten races were completed in each division, and Yale placed third overall.
Despite the storm along the coast, the wind was absent on Lake Mascoma over the weekend, where the women's team raced for the 28th Mrs. Hurst Bowl at Dartmouth. Only one race was completed in A division due to the light conditions, voiding the regatta results.
Next week, the Bulldogs will compete in Women's ACC Round 1, NEISA Match Race CHampionships, the Danmark Trophy, and Jesuit Invite.
