NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- A pair of players who helped the Yale field hockey team start the season 2-0 and outscore its opponents 12-1 this past weekend were honored by the Ivy League on Tuesday as the league announced its annual awards. Junior back Issy Baileff (Epsom, England) was named Ivy League Co-Defensive Player of the Week, sharing the award with Princeton's Gabriella Anderson. Junior forward/midfielder Chiara Picciafuoco (Buenos Aires, Argentina) was named Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week.

Baileff helped Yale limit its opponents to just one goal and nine shots on goal for the weekend. She started both games, including Friday's 3-0 blanking of Sacred Heart, for her first starts since 2024. Her goal in Sunday's 9-1 win vs. UAlbany was her first goal since 2024. She made her second career defensive save Sunday.

Baileff is a graduate of Reed's School.

Picciafuoco's six-goal weekend included four goals Sunday in the win vs. UAlbany. That was the most goals in a game by a Yale player since Carol Middough '18 scored four in a 7-1 win at Lehigh Oct. 1, 2017. For the weekend Picciafuoco also had a pair of assists.

Picciafuoco is a graduate of Belgrano Day School. She is a two-time NFHCA All-America pick.

Yale hosts Fairfield Friday at 6:00 p.m., seeking to start the season 3-0 for the third year in a row. Prior to this stretch Yale had not started a season 3-0 since 2018.
