Box Score Snikeris Makes 36 Saves
POTSDAM, N.Y. - For the first two periods
Saturday afternoon at Cheel Arena, junior goalkeeper Jackee
Snikeris kept Yale locked in a scoreless tie with No. 3 Clarkson
despite a lopsided 26-7 shot advantage for the Golden Knights. The
Bulldogs had their best showing offensively in the third period,
putting 10 shots on net, but it was Clarkson that finally broke
through with a goal from Carlee Eusepi with just over eight minutes
to play. That proved to be the game-winner as Clarkson won 2-0.
Snikeris, who made 16 saves in the first period Friday night at
St. Lawrence, was similarly busy in the first Saturday as she made
12 stops. She also stopped all 14 Clarkson shots in the second
period, holding the Golden Knights scoreless on their first four
power plays. But Yale could not convert any of its five power-play
chances for the game.
Clarkson (9-1-1, 3-0-0 ECAC Hockey) got on the board when
Eusepi's shot from the right point found its way through traffic
and past Snikeris at 11:59. Four minutes later Britney Selina
scored a power-play goal, and that was more than enough for Golden
Knights goalie Lauren Dahm. She made 17 saves for her second
shutout of the weekend.
For the second night in a row, sophomore forward Aleca Hughes
generated a team-high five shots for the Bulldogs.
Yale (0-2-1, 0-2-0 ECAC Hockey) returns to the newly renovated
Ingalls Rink for the home opener next Friday vs. Princeton at 7
p.m. Video of the game is available at http://www.stretchinternet.com/yaleschedule.html
