Box Score Bulldogs Look To Close Out Season On Winning

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The 2009 Yale men's soccer season will end in
the national spotlight when the Bulldogs take on Princeton on
Friday night. Kickoff at Princeton's Roberts Stadium is set for at
8:07 p.m. and the game will be televised live by the Fox Soccer
Channel as part of its NSCAA College Game of the Week package.
Steve Bell will handle the play-by-play, while Keith Tabatznik
provides analysis. The Fox Soccer Channel is available on DirecTV
(619), Dish Network (149) and many cable outlets, including
Comcast.
"Having the game on FSC will allow us to showcase our program
and the Ivy League to a national television audience of fans,
friends, alumni and potential recruits," said Yale head coach Brian
Tompkins. "The players are excited to have the rare opportunity to
play in the national spotlight and we anticipate an exciting game
of attacking soccer between two highly-motivated teams."
The Bulldogs (5-8-3, 2-4 Ivy) are coming off a hard-fought 2-1
loss to Brown last Saturday at Reese Stadium. All four of Yale's
league losses have come by one goal, including two in overtime.
Brad Rose and Scott Armbrust share the team lead with six goals
apiece. Armbrust was named to the Ivy League Honor Roll on Monday
after scoring in the game with Brown. Travis Chulick has started 15
games in goal and has a 1.41 goals against average.
Princeton (8-5-3, 3-2-1 Ivy) is currently fourth in the Ivy
League, but only three-points behind first-place Harvard. As a
result, the Tigers could still earn a share of the Ivy title but
will need a number of results to go in their favor this weekend.
Princeton is unbeaten (4-0-2) in its last six games and was 14th in
the latest Division I RPI released by the NCAA on Tuesday. Josh
Walburn has tallied six goals and a team-best five assists to lead
the team with 17 points. Goalkeeper Sean Lynch has started all 16
games and has a 1.18 goals against average.
Yale is unbeaten in its last six games with Princeton. The two
teams played a spirited 2-2 tie last year at Reese Stadium. Aden
Farina-Henry scored the tying goal midway through the second half.
