Bulldogs Seek Third Straight Victory

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale women's soccer team seems to
be building momentum at the right time. The Bulldogs have won two
straight games and three of their last four heading into Saturday's
contest at Cornell. Yale needs to keep the streak going to remain
in the Ivy League title race. Kickoff at Berman Field is slated for
4 p.m.
The Bulldogs (5-6-1, 1-2 Ivy) haven't played since last
Saturday's 3-1 victory at Dartmouth. After struggling to score
goals early in the season, Yale's offense has come alive recently.
The Bulldogs have nine goals in their last four games and have
received contributions from a number of sources. Becky
Brown, who was named the Ivy League Player of the Week on
Monday, has eight points (3 goals, 2 assists) during the stretch,
while Mary
Kubiuk (2g, 1a) and Kristen
Forster (1g, 3a) each have five points.
Cornell (5-6, 0-3 Ivy) also hasn't played since last Saturday, a
2-0 loss at Harvard. Twenty-seven different players have seen
action for the Big Red and 10 have scored goals. Brook Chang leads
the way with four goals and nine points. Kelly Murphy (0.94 goals
average) and Megan Bartlett (1.64 GAA) have split the goalkeeping
duties.
Yale has won three straight games against Cornell, including a
2-1 overtime decision last year at Reese Stadium. Forster scored
the game-winning goal just 2 minutes, 7 seconds into the extra
period. Miyuki
Hino also scored for the Bulldogs. Yale leads the
all-time series with Cornell 15-14.
