Hernes Named Captain for 2026 Season

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Sarah Martinez, Loring Family Head Coach, has announced that rising senior Karoline Hernes has been tabbed the next captain of the Yale Women's Soccer team.

"I'm thrilled for Karoline to lead our team over this next year," said Martinez. "She is a natural leader and eager to take this next step in an important time for our program. She is backed by a strong senior class who will lead by committee and continue to raise the standards each day for our program. "

Hernes, a standout midfielder for the Bulldogs both on and off the field, is a mechanical engineering major coming off an impressive junior season in which she earned Academic All-Ivy recognition and CSC Academic All-District honors. On the field, she started all 13 games, tallied two assists, and logged a career-high 990 minutes in the midfield.

"I'm incredibly excited and honored to take on the role of captain this upcoming year," said Hernes. We are an amazing group of dedicated players who are eager to grow and take on new challenges. I look forward to leading the way as we push each other, and I can't wait to see what we will accomplish together!"

Across 34 career appearances, Hernes has logged over 1,700 minutes of action, contributing two goals and five assists.
