NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The No. 2 Yale men's squash team defeated the
No. 5 Harvard Crimson 8-1 Saturday afternoon at the Brady Squash
Center to claim sole possession of the Ivy League title.
Yale (12-1, 6-0 Ivy) dominated matches throughout the ladder en
route to the title-clinching victory over Harvard (6-4, 4-2
Ivy). Five Bulldogs registered 3-0 sweeps on the day.
Freshmen Hywel Robinson (No. 4) and Richard Dodd (No. 7),
sophomores John Roberts (No. 5) and Robert Berner (No. 8) and
junior Christopher Plimpton (No. 9) were all 3-0 winners over their
Cantab counterparts.
Following the match, the Yale team was presented with the Ivy
League trophy to commemorate the club's undefeated conference
season. The Bulldogs were recognized for their outstanding
senior leadership, dedicated coaching staff and tireless work
ethic.
Now that the regular season is in the books, the Bulldogs will
focus on bringing their top game to the CSA Team Championships,
which begin on Feb. 19 at the Brady Squash Center. While No.
1 Trinity (17-0) will be the tournament favorite, the Bulldogs
should be in contention for the national title.
