New Haven, Conn. -  The Yale women's tennis team returned to match play this Saturday, easily returning to competition after an almost two-month hiatus from matches. The Bulldogs hosted the Boston College Eagles at the Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center, breezing by their opponents with a 6-1 victory.

Victoria Brook led the Bulldogs at No. 1 singles, overcoming a 7-5 deficit in the first set to clinch a win against Boston College's Alex Kelleher. At No. 2 singles, No. 65 sophomore Elizabeth Epstein took on Veronica Corning, dropping only two games in the match. Blair Seideman, Stephanie Kent, and Annie Sullivan also posted successful results today, at No. 3, No. 4, and No. 6 singles, respectively. Stevi Petrelli was forced to retire due to an injury at No. 5, after tieing up the third set at 3-3.

The Bulldog's doubles teams also posted strong scores, winning all three matches. Brook and Lindsay Clark won at No. 1 doubles by a 9-8 (1) score. Teams Annie Sullivan and Stephanie Kent at No. 2, and Elizabeth Epstein and Stevi Petrelli at No. 3 both defeated their opponents by 8-5 scores.

The Bulldogs look next to Boston University, who they are scheduled to play on Saturday.

"It was great to start off our spring season today on such a positive note, and the win will give us confidence moving forward. We all came together as a team after a long break, and are definitely ready for our match tomorrow," says Epstein.
