Lions Record 4-0 Victory over Bulldogs

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – In its fourth Ivy League match of the season, the Yale men's tennis team fell in a 4-0 decision to No. 17 Columbia on Sunday at the Bulldogs' home courts.  The Lions secured the doubles point before clinching the win in singles play.

With the loss, Yale falls to seventh position in the overall Ivy League standings, with three matches left to play.  With the win, Columbia extends its winning streak to 16 matches.  The Lions remain undefeated in conference matches (5-0). 

The Lions gained the upper hand from the outset, capturing wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles spots.  They then carried their momentum into singles play, posting three straight-set wins.  All other matches were left unfinished.

Despite the defeat, Yale has a chance to get back on track when it takes on No. 40 Dartmouth on Friday, Apr. 18.  The match against the Big Green will be the Elis' final home match of the season.  On Sunday, Apr. 20, Yale will renew its rivalry against No. 31 Harvard.  The Bulldogs will aim to be in top form for these matches, both of which promise to be exciting encounters.
