No. 2 Trinity Hands No. 4 Yale First Loss

HARTFORD, Conn. — Yale women's squash suffered its first loss of the season Wednesday evening as the Bulldogs fell 7-2 to No. 2 Trinity.

Heading into tonight's match, Yale (7-1, 2-0 Ivy) felt confident after a stretch of excellent play against lesser opponents. The hosts, however, proved too strong for the Bulldogs as Trinity improved its record to 11-0 on the season.

The Bulldogs did manage to earn two wins. One came from senior captain Anna Harrison, who swept her opponent at No. 6 in three games. The other came in the seventh spot from junior Annie Ballaine. Ballaine prevailed in a back-and-forth battle that saw her go down 2-1 before she broke through to take the final two games with a strong finish (14-12, 11-13, 11-6, 4-11, 9-11).

Freshman Jen Davis also showed promise as she snatched her first two games at No. 4 in a narrow loss (6-11, 8-11, 11-5, 11-9, 11-9).

While Yale had hoped to be the team that left the contest with its loss column still empty, the Bulldogs will have a chance to notch another win on Saturday, when they travel to face No. 7 George Washington.
