No. 4 Yale Notches Win At No. 8 George Washington

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Yale women's squash will return from a successful road trip after an 8-1 defeat of No. 8 George Washington on Saturday.

With the win, Yale (8-1, 2-0 Ivy) reasserted itself after suffering its first loss of the season on Wednesday night against No. 1 Trinity.

Saturday's win demonstrated the depth and clinical play of this year's squad, as the Bulldogs dispatched their competition with relative ease. Six of Yale's eight wins came in the minimum three games.

The lone hiccup came at the top of the lineup, where sophomore Jenny Scherl fell in three games against George Washington's Anna Porras, a talented opponent who finished last season ranked No. 15 in the nation.

Up next for Yale is a crucial Ivy League doubleheader at the Brady Squash Center next weekend. On Saturday, the Bulldogs will host No. 2 Penn, whose only loss came in a 5-4 decision against No. 1 Trinity last week. On Sunday, Yale faces No. 5 Princeton. Both matches will play a major role in determining the course of the Ivy League championship race.
