CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Camille Weisenbach had five hits, including two doubles and a triple, and freshman Allison Skinner hit her first career home run, but the Yale softball team dropped an Ivy League doubleheader at Harvard. The Crimson scored nine runs in the first inning of the opener en route to a 10-1 victory. The Bulldogs responded well in the second game, building a 4-2 lead, but Harvard rallied to escape with a 6-5 win on a gorgeous afternoon at Soldiers Field.

Yale looked to be in good shape after scoring four runs in the fourth inning of the second game to take a 4-2 lead. Skinner and Lauren Delgadillo started the rally with singles. Weisenbach then doubled home Skinner, and Rachel Paris followed with a two-run single. Sydney Glover drove home the final run of the inning.

Harvard, though, tied the score with two runs in the fifth and then took a 6-4 lead with a two-run sixth inning.

Still, the Bulldogs refused to quit. Skinner led off the seventh with a home run to left field, and Weisenbach singled with two outs, but Harvard pitcher Laura Ricciardone retired the next hitter to end the game.

Yale outhit the Crimson 12-10 but left eight runners on base.

The Bulldogs had a good scoring chance in the second inning when Hannah Brennan doubled and Paris singled, but both were left stranded.

Yale also left two runners on in the fifth inning when Delgadillo singled and Weisenbach doubled.

Weisenbach was 3-for-4 for the Bulldogs, while Skinner, Delgadillo, Paris and Laina Do all had two hits.

The Bulldogs (8-19, 2-10 Ivy) were limited to four hits in the first game.
