NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Yale softball has its new leader, as head coach Laura Ricciardone announced that senior Elena Ohe has been elected captain of the Bulldogs for the 2027 season.
"I'm thrilled to have Elena as our captain," Ricciardone said. "Elena has a rare level of discipline and work ethic that has served as a constant example for everyone in Yale Softball during her time here. She is grounded, committed and constantly pushes herself and those around her, all while being a stellar teammate. Our program has benefited from her work ethic, character and leadership every day over the last three years, and I'm thrilled to have her leadership at the forefront in her final season."
Ohe has been a consistent starter for the Bulldogs throughout her three years in New Haven. She has appeared in 119 games, making 113 starts, while recording 65 hits and 40 RBIs.
"I'm incredibly honored to be elected to lead this team," Ohe said. "This squad is full of leaders in every class, and I'm lucky to be alongside an incredible group of seniors in Meredith, Bella and Kaitlyn. Together, this team can accomplish so much, and I couldn't be more excited for what's to come."
Off the field, Ohe is involved in several campus organizations. A neuroscience major, she serves as a Student-Athlete Mentor (SAM), a board member for the Yale Women's Athletic Council, a Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) representative, a First-Year Orientation leader and a HAVEN Free Clinic volunteer.
