NEW HAVEN, Conn. — The Bulldogs claimed a third consecutive Ivy League win in commanding fashion on Sunday in an 8-1 victory over the visiting Columbia Lions at the Brady Squash Center.
No. 4 Yale (4-0, 3-0 Ivy) handed No. 8 Columbia (3-1, 1-1 Ivy) its first loss of the season with another impressive performance.
Despite the comfortable margin, the contest did have its exciting moments. Junior Jenny Scherl started off her match in the top spot with a marathon 16-14 win in the first game.
At No. 6, sophomore Jen Davis bounced back to win after a slow start left her two games down, delivering an emphatic 11-1 victory to finish things off.
Sophomore Selena Maity showed good poise as she came out on the top end of a back-and-forth battle at No. 7 that culminated in a 12-10 fifth-game win.
The next test for Yale will be a series of non-conference matches, beginning next Friday as the Bulldogs travel to face No. 16 Amherst and No. 19 Hamilton.
