NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The Yale women's squash team began Ivy League competition Tuesday evening with a 9-0 victory over the Brown Bears at the Brady Squash Center.

The Bulldogs (2-0) began the day strong, winning their first five matches without conceding a single game.  Senior Jenny Scherl continued her solid start to the season playing in the 1 spot with a 3-0 win.  Captain Shiyuan Mao followed up with another win in the 3 spot, also winning in just three games (11-3,11-5,11-8).

"I am proud of our team's ability to stay focused this week and come out with a strong match against a tough Brown team," said Scherl. "We are looking forward to continuing the momentum into the rest of the season."

The Yale freshmen did not miss a beat playing in their first ever conference match. Lucy Beecroft and Jessica Yacobucci both won their matches 3-0.  

This was the last game of the semester for the Bulldogs, whose next competition will be Jan. 7 when they host the Wesleyan Cardinal at the Brady Squash Center.
