NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Two weeks after beating the Big Green handily in Hanover, Yale replicated that performance in the first round of the CSA Team Championships with an 8-1 victory over No. 7 Dartmouth on Friday at the Brady Squash Center.
In the eight matches the Bulldogs won, they took 24 of the 25 games played as the team built a decisive margin. Yale's only loss, on the other hand, came in a close five games.
The win sets up a semifinal contest against No. 3 St. Lawrence, who defeated Harvard in a tight 5-4 contest to advance.
When Yale and St. Lawrence met earlier this season on Jan. 16, the Bulldogs left on the better side of a 6-3 decision. Yale is one of only two teams to have handed St. Lawrence a loss this year. The Saints come into the tournament boating some impressive wins, including a 5-4 upset of No. 1 Trinity in their regular season finale on Feb. 13.
With a national title shot on the line, the Bulldogs will take the court at 2:30 on Saturday.
Select matches will be streamed on the Ivy League Digital Network.
