PHILADELPHIA — A road matchup with one of the top teams in the country proved too much for the Bulldogs on Sunday as they dropped their second Ivy match in a row to hosts Penn.

Yale (10-3, 3-2 Ivy) knew that the weekend would present a difficult back-to-back slate, but were nonetheless hoping to rebound after Saturday's loss to No. 3 Princeton. 

The Quakers, however, had other ideas, taking every match on the ladder as they justified their lofty place in the national rankings.

The day was not without several strong individual efforts from Yale's players as they sought to break through against the favorites. Senior Georgia Blatchford put her opponent into a 2-0 hole, but could not hang on in the end. Sophomore Jocelyn Lehman also stretched her match to five games, while freshman Emily Sherwood came closest to putting Yale on the board at No. 9 before falling 13-11 in the deciding frame. 

Two more Ivy League matches remain in the regular season for the Bulldogs, who will travel to face No. 11 Dartmouth on Friday before a final match in New Haven against No. 1 Harvard on Sunday.
