Bulldogs in Fourth After Day One at Cornell Invitational

ITHACA, N.Y.- The Yale men's golf team (+27) is in fourth place after 36 holes of play at Robert Trent Jones Golf Course in Ithaca, N.Y.  Siena College, a liberal arts school in Albany, N.Y., finished the day in first.  Their second round cumulative score of 287, or 3-over par, put them in the lead after starting the second round in fourth.  Better weather in the afternoon led to many schools posting lower scores in the second of the two rounds on Saturday.

Senior Jonathan Lai (+1) led the way for the Bulldogs.  He started the day with a 2-over 73 in the morning round, but came back with a very impressive 1-under 70 in the afternoon.  The great second round put him in fourth place individually in the event.  Colgate's Ryan Skae (-5) is in first.

Also with strong performances for the Bulldogs were freshman Jordan Weitz (+6), who finished the day in 12th individually, sophomore James Nicholas (+7), and senior captain Li Wang (+8).  Yale is only one stroke behind Penn and Cornell, who are tied for second at plus-26, leaving them well within striking distance of the leaders.  Play starts bright and early on Sunday, with the first groups teeing off at 7:00 am.
