ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Yale women's squash team continued Ivy League play today in an away match against the Cornell Big Red, winning 8-1.  The Bulldogs are now an undefeated 6-0 on the season and 2-0 in conference play.

In the most difficult matchup of the season up to this point, the Yale women were able to rally in several close matches to secure the win. In the number 2 spot matchup, Yale freshman Lucy Beecroft closed out in five games to win 3-2 over Cornell's Rachel Scherman (11-7,11-7,9-11,4-11,11-1). In the next match, sophomore Celine Yeap, playing the 3 spot, continued the momentum in a tight battle with Cornell's Margaux Losty, winning the fifth game 11-8 to take the match 3-2.

Senior Jenny Scherl, who won the 1 spot match 3-0 (11-6, 11-6, 11-9), was satisfied with the team's efforts. "The squad did a great job of rallying in the close matches," said Scherl. "Those wins were essential in beating a solid Cornell team today."

Yale has a quick turnaround before its next match tomorrow at No. 7 Columbia. The matches will begin at noon.
