No. 2 Yale Upset By No. 8 St. Lawrence

CANTON, N.Y. - The No. 2 Yale men's squash team (3-4) fell to the No. 8 St. Lawrence Saints (5-1) this evening by a score of 9-0. Skill was exhibited by both teams and the match was hard-fought on every court.

The Bulldogs put up a fight throughout the entire match but showed particular resilience in the final shift of the competition. Even from a 7-0 deficit, the Yale men continued to fight through every point in the final two matches, both of which required extended games to identify a winner.

Playing in the No. 4 spot, senior Liam McClintock showed hardiness and strength as he held off competitor Moustafa Bayoumy. Despite coming up short in the first two games, McClintock struck back by winning games three and four.

Junior Arjun Kochhar also handled five games in the No. 7 spot, yielding high scores in an extended battle of wills against challenger Lockie Munro.

The Bulldogs have not taken their eyes off the big events to come, and are still aiming to have strong performances in the rest of their Ivy League matches, as well as the National Championships, as they continue to vie for both prestigious titles. The Yale men will have many more opportunities to show their skill on the court with seven matches left in the regular season.

Yale will continue its series of away matches on Friday, Jan. 27, when the Bulldogs will travel to take on the George Washington University Colonials and Drexel University Dragons at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., respectively.
