PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Senior Tad Carney of the Yale men's squash team was named one of three finalists for the Skillman Award by the College Squash Association (CSA). The award is given annually to a senior men's squash student-athlete who exemplifies sportsmanship and elite play and is considered the most prestigious men's individual award presented by the CSA. Carney joins Penn's Omar Hafez and Trinity's Joachim Chuah as the three finalists.
Carney is Yale's first Skillman finalist since former teammate Siow Yee Xian in 2024. Carney has been an impact player throughout his time at Yale, rising from a middle-of-the-lineup player to a bona fide No. 1. The senior was elected captain in 2026 and has found success competing against some of the best players in the nation. As a junior, Carney reached the semifinals at the CSA Individual Championships. This season, Carney has recorded a 9-3 record and helped lead the Bulldogs to a berth in the inaugural Ivy League Tournament. He is a two-time CSA All-American and a two-time first-team All-Ivy selection.
The winner of the 2026 Skillman Award will be announced on Friday, March 6, at 5:30 p.m. during the CSA Champions Reception.
