PRINCETON, N.J. -- The Yale women's squash team fell to the Princeton Tigers today in the first round of the CSA Women's Squash National Championships. The Tigers defeated the Bulldogs by a tally of 6-3, thereby ending Yale's chances of playing for a national championship.
The Bulldogs were not able to win the critical matches necessary in order to pull off an upset over the higher seeded Tigers. Seniors Jenny Scherl and Shiyuan Mao lost close matches in the one and four spots, points they won during the regular season meeting. Sophomore Celine Yeap and Freshman Lucy Beecroft won points in the two and three spots, respectively. Junior Jen Davis had a strong performance in five spot as well, defeating Princeton's Gabriella Garr 3-1 (6-11,11-7,11-8,12-10).
The Yale women will continue play tomorrow against No. 8 Columbia in the consolation round of the tournament. The match begins at 11:30 a.m.
