NEW HAVEN, Conn.—The No. 6 ranked Yale women's squash team will face a daunting lineup of matches this week, starting with a showdown against No. 2 Trinity on Wednesday.
Yale will take on the Bantams in its first home match of the regular season, and will hope to improve on its 6-1 record. The event is sure to be a grudge match for the Bulldogs, who are in a six-year drought in matches against the fellow Connecticut team.
The Bulldogs have a chance to impact their ranking on Wednesday, where confidence in their skill will be the key to an upset.
The Yale women will have to bounce back from Wednesday's competition quickly, as they are slotted for matches on both Saturday and Sunday as well. The Bulldogs will welcome No. 12 George Washington to the Brady Squash Center on Saturday and will see No. 4 Stanford on Sunday.
Sunday's match will be particularly interesting for the Bulldogs, and not just because of the team's close rankings. Stanford women's squash head coach Mark Talbott is the younger brother of Yale squash head coach Dave Talbott, making the face-off a family affair.
Tensions are sure to be high throughout the week in the Brady Squash Center, where matches will be intense and hard-fought.
Yale is scheduled to play Trinity at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 24. Watch those matches here.
The Bulldogs will see George Washington at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday and Stanford at 12:30 on Sunday. Watch the weekend matches here.
All matches will be held at the Brady Squash Center in Payne Whitney Gymnasium.
