Box Score Yale defeated Cornell 7-4 on Monday afternoon to complete a three-game series sweep.
The Bulldogs (11-14, 7-2 Ivy) used a four-run sixth and the bullpen locked up their seventh straight win. Eric Brodkowitz went six innings to earn his third win of the season.
Thomas Espig delivered two scoreless innings and Benny Wanger earned his third save.
Simon Whiteman extended his hit streak to nine games with a two-hit performance. Whiteman went 8 for 12 in the series with six runs scored.
In the fourth inning, Whiteman led off the inning with a single and scored the first run of the game for the Bulldogs. He advanced to second on an infield hit from Wanger.
Whiteman and Wanger advanced a base on a fly out by Griffin Dey. Alex Stiegler, the next batter, flied out to right to score Whiteman.
Harry Hegeman followed Stiegler with a bunt single to move Wanger to third. Wanger scored on a wild pitch to give Yale a 2-1 lead.
The Bulldogs scored four times in the sixth with a two-out rally. With Stiegler on first, Hegeman and Brian Ronai reached on back-to-back walks to load the bases.
Dai Dai Otaka cleared the bases on a two-RBI single to right with Ronai scoring from first on a throwing error. Tom Fuller followed with a single to right to score Otaka and make it 6-1 Yale.
Cornell got three back in the bottom of the frame to make it 6-4.
Dey added a run-scoring single in the ninth to score Tim DeGraw, who reached on an infield and got in to scoring position on a sac bunt by Whiteman.
Espig allowed two hits over two innings with the help of DeGraw in the seventh. DeGraw made a diving grab to rob the Big Red leadoff hitter.
Wanger tossed a perfect ninth.
