Elis play closest match of season
NEW HAVEN, Conn. — The Yale Women's Squash Team suffered its first loss of the season Sunday afternoon against No. 3 Princeton. The Bulldogs and Tigers were tied going into the final match before Princeton came out with a 5-4 victory.
The match was neck-and-neck from the start thanks in large part to the Bulldogs' top three players, No. 1 Lucy Beecroft, No. 2 Helen Teegan and No. 3 Celine Yeap.
In the opening match of the afternoon, Beecroft took down her opponent in a five-game nail biter. Teegan then outlasted Princeton's Raneem El Torky 3-2, and in the penultimate match of the afternoon, Yeap defeated her opponent 3-1.
Also securing a victory for the Elis was No. 8 Nikita Joshi, who won 3-2 in a tight match.
The Bulldogs travel to No. 5 Stanford on Saturday for a noon match.
