It was a very strong start to the fall season for Yale women's crew. The Bulldogs had three of the top four finishers in the Division I collegiate eights at the annual Head of the Housatonic.

Yale's top boat posted a time of 14:29.9, while the second eight finished in 14:38.6. Syracuse A crew was third in 14:51.5, followed by the Yale third eight in 15:04.5.

The Bulldogs fourth entry placed 12th with a time of 15:31.0

Yale had three eights finish ahead of five schools' first varsity – Boston University, Northeastern, Columbia, UMass and Boston College.

"The Head of the Housatonic is a great chance for us to get a race in before the Head of the Charles," said Will Porter, The Friends of YWC Head Coach of the Bulldogs. "We rowed ok but still have not found a 1V lineup. This week we will work to find more separation between our top boats."

Following the racing, the Bulldogs gathered with a number of former rowers who returned to celebrate the day. In addition, the 1979 Sprints and National champion crew was honored.

"It is great to see so many alumnae back," Porter said. "They do so much to support our program."

Yale races in the Head of the Charles in Boston next weekend.
