Princeton at Yale - Watch on ESPN+ | Live Stats
This Weekend
The Bulldogs (14-7, 10-2 Ivy) wrap up the regular season with an adjusted schedule this weekend. Yale's match against Penn originally scheduled for Friday was cancelled. The Bulldogs will host Princeton on Saturday with first place on the line. Prior to the match, the Bulldogs will honor their seniors -- Frances Arnautou, Tristin Kott, Rebekah Nemeth and team captain Izzy Simqu.
What's at StakeÂ
Yale trails Princeton by one match in the standings, and the Tigers will play at Brown on Friday night. A Princeton loss at Brown followed by a Yale victory over the Tigers on Saturday would result in the Bulldogs playing an additional match on Sunday against Brown at 3 p.m. in Lee Amphitheater. If Princeton beats Brown on Friday, Yale would need a victory over the Tigers on Saturday to earn a share of the Ivy League title and force a one-match playoff for the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Thank You SeniorsÂ
The Bulldogs' Class of 2020 -- Frances Arnautou, Tristin Kott, Rebekah Nemeth and Izzy Simqu -- has accomplished a lot in their time at Yale. The Bulldogs have won two straight Ivy League titles (and are in the hunt for a third) -- and went a dominating 44 and 10 record against conference teams. In addition, they entered the weekend with 68 wins over four years, including a 37-3 overall record at home, and 24-2 mark against Ivy League teams here in New Haven.Â
Worth Noting
Here are some additional notes heading into the weekend:
- Junior Kathryn Attar and senior Rebekah Nemeth were named to the weekly Ivy League Honor Roll for their efforts in victories at Cornell and Columbia. Attar averaged 3.14 kills per set and 2.00 digs per set, while Nemeth averaged 3.57 kills and hit .321. Â
- Yale has not played a home match since Oct. 19 and went 4-1 in its last five matches (all on the road).Â
- Yale head coach Erin Appleman will be honored before Saturday's match for recently earning her 300th victory at the helm of the Bulldogs.  Â
- First-year Maile Somera continues to be a force on defense. She averaged 4.00 digs per set in the Bulldogs two victories last weekend. In Ivy play, she leads the Bulldogs with 3.25 kills per set.
- Sophomore Samantha Bray ranks third in the Ivy League with a .408 hitting percentage in conference play.
- Sophomore Ellis DeJardin was named to the CoSIDA All-Academic District Team on Thursday for her efforts on the court and in the classroom.Â
- Yale enters the weekend with an 8-0 record at home this season. The Bulldogs went 10-0 at home in 2018.
