CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Despite a season-high 20 kills from
Samantha Bray, the Bulldogs had their four-match win streak snapped in a 3-1 loss at Harvard on Saturday evening.
The scores of the match were 30-28, 25-20, 22-25, and 25-20.
Frances Arnautou had 44 assists and 10 digs, while
Izzy Simqu had 11 kills for Yale. The Bulldogs now stand at 8-2 in Ivy League play and 12-7 overall.
The Bulldogs dropped a hard-fought first set. Bray, who produced key points late in the set, had seven kills and
Maile Somera had six digs to lead Yale.
After dropping the second set, the Bulldogs won the third.
Bonnie Bostic and Bray delivered back to back kills to give Yale a 13-11 lead.
Maile Somera, who had 18 digs, served up an ace and Simqu and
Ellis DeJardin followed with block assists to give Yale a 16-12 edge. The Bulldogs led the rest of the way and Bray and
Rebekah Nemeth closed out the set with block assists.
Simqu had seven kills in the final set, including four straight points to give Yale a 16-15 lead. The Crimson scored 10 of the last 14 points of the match.
Yale returns to action on Friday with a match at Cornell, which finished the weekend tied with the Bulldogs in second place.
