Yale Puts 13 Bulldogs on All-Ivy League Teams

Five first teamers led by unanimous pick, Kurt Rawlings

NEW HAVEN, Conn. –The Ivy League announced its football all-conference teams on Tuesday afternoon and 13 Yale University Bulldogs were honored with five first-team selections being led by unanimous first-teamer Kurt Rawlings. The offensive and defensive players of the year will be announced on December 9.

Yale's record-breaking senior quarterback was joined by four classmates who also made the All-Ivy First Team: offensive lineman Dieter Eiselen, wide receivers Reed Klubnik and JP Shohfi and kicker Sam Tuckerman.

Second team honorees included senior offensive lineman Sterling Strother, junior running back Zane Dudek, senior defensive lineman Spencer Matthaei, senior linebacker Ryan Burke and senior defensive back Malcolm Dixon.

Three Yale juniors were also tabbed to All-Ivy Honorable Mention Team: offensive lineman Cameron Warfield, linebacker Rodney Thomas II and cornerback Melvin Rouse II.

The Bulldogs went 9-1 overall in 2019 and 6-1 in Ivy League play to win a share of the Ivy League Championship.

Rawlings led the Ivy League with 27 touchdown passes, 300.2 yards per game and a 163.5 efficiency rating. He was given time to operate by Eiselen, Strother, Warfield who helped pace the Elis to be the top offense in the league with 38.7 points per game.

Yale's play in the trenches allowed Rawlings to find Shohfi and Klubnik a combined 117 times as the duo both went over 1,000 receiving and finished 1-2 in yards, touchdowns and yards per game, respectively.

The Bulldog line also opened holes for Dudek who went for 754 yards on the ground and eight touchdowns.

Tuckerman was the top kicker in the league with 8.5 points per game, 43 extra points, and 14 field goals, five more than any other player.

Burke quarterbacked the defense and came up with the most pivotal play of the season with his game-ending tackle in double overtime against Harvard with darkness abound at the Yale Bowl. Fellow seniors Matthaei and Dixon were linchpins of the line and secondary, respectively.

Additionally, Thomas and Rouse proved perfect duos with Burke and Dixon at the second and third levels.
