Bulldogs Sweep Stony Brook in Home Opener

Yale Hits .361 for the Match

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Yale started its home schedule the same way it finished last year -- with a victory.

After a 10-0 record at home last year, the Bulldogs kept the success going on Friday night.  Kathryn Attar led the way with 13 kills and hit .522, Frances Arnautou added 35 assists and the Bulldogs swept Stony Brook in day one action at the Yale Invitational.

The scores of the match were 25-17, 25-14 and 25-21.

Earlier in the evening, Army defeated Sacred Heart 3-0.

The Bulldogs (2-5) came out swinging in the first set and hit .361 as a team.  Attar had four kills in the opener.

After the Seawolves took the first point, Rebekah Nemeth delivered a kill on the next point.  Two straight Stony Brook hitting errors gave Yale a 3-1 edge and a lead it would not relinquish the rest of the set.

Yurika Boyd capped a 9-1 run in the second set to give Yale a 18-9 lead.

Yale hit .361 for the match and had a 56-49 edge in digs.

For the match, Ellis DeJardin added 10 kills and eight digs, while Boyd led the Bulldogs with 17 digs.
