"This was a good learning experience," said
James Jones, The Joel E. Smilow, Class of 1954 Head Coach of the Bulldogs. "It was a good opportunity to see some guys when the lights are on."
Yale, which hadn't played since a 70-67 loss at North Carolina on Dec. 30, outrebounded JWU 57-25 and had a 60-18 edge in points in the paint.
In addition, the Bulldogs had assists on 28 of their 40 field goals.
Yale has one more non-conference game (at Howard on Jan. 20) but that won't come until after next Friday's Ivy League opener vs. Brown at Lee Amphitheater. Tip is set for approximately 7:30 p.m. after the Yale-Brown women's game, which is a 5 p.m. tip.
It's been a very successful non-conference season for the Bulldogs, who have won eight of their last nine games. The 11 wins matches the most non-conference, regular season victories in school history.
"I feel good about where we are," Jones said. "Now, we have to get ready to go in [Ivy play]."
NOTES: Jordan Bruner and
Azar Swain both missed the game with what are believed to be minor injuries… The Bulldogs improved to 4-0 at home… Yale was playing in the friendly confines of Lee Amphitheater for the first time in 41 days. Back on Dec. 1, the Bulldogs rolled to a 65-52 victory over Vermont.
