Yale, coming off a sweep of the Capital District teams at home, takes part in the inaugural CT Ice Festival this weekend at Brideport's Webster Bank Arena. The Bulldogs (8-9-0, 6-6-0 ECAC) play Sacred Heart (14-8-2, 13-6-1 AH) on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in the second semifinal. UConn (9-10-4, 6-7-2 HE) and No. 17 Quinnipiac (13-8-1, 7-4-1 ECAC) square off in the 4 p.m. opener. The winners meet on Sunday at 7 for the CT Ice championship, while the losers play at 3:30. All games air live on SNY with Wayne Randazzo, Colby Cohen and Doug Williams (rinkside) handling the commentary.
BULLDOGS
Yale beat Union and RPI last weekend at home by a combined score of 9-1, the best offensive weekend for the Elis this season. Four of those goals and five points came off the stick of sophomore forward
Curtis Hall, the Boston Bruins draft pick who leads the nation with .92 goals per game and earned ECAC Player of the Week and NCAA 3 Star honors.
Tyler Welsh had four assists last week, while senior goalie
Corbin Kaczperski, the ECAC's Goalie of the Week for the third time this year, stopped 48 of 49 shots to get both wins in the Yale net.
CT ICE FIELD
The Pioneers are 2-1-1 in their last four after splitting an Atlantic Hockey set with Canisius last weekend... The Bobcats have won seven of eight coming off a 4-3 win at Holy Cross... The Huskies have won two straight following a 3-2 OT win at Northeastern.
SERIES
Yale beat Sacred Heart 3-1 on Jan. 12, 2019, at Ingalls Rink and has now won six of the seven meetings since the first meeting in 2009... Quinnipiac has a 22-7-5 advantage in the series with the Elis since the first meeting in 2006... The Elis have taken 13 of the 14 meetings with UConn since the first during the 1971-72 season. The first UConn win (3-1) came on New Year's Eve of 2019 at Ingalls Rink, while the last Yale win was 6-3 at Belfast, Ireland, in November of last year.
