NEW HAVEN, Conn. - At the Bulldogs' only home meet of the season, the Yale men's fencing team defeated both Sacred Heart and Vassar 20-7 due to great skill and effort displayed by all members of the team.

The morning began with a match-up against Vassar. The Bulldogs came out on top the last time they fenced against Vassar and they were happy to maintain their winning streak. The foilists had a strong showing with a squad record of 7-2 and four members going undefeated:
Cameron Allen,
Earnest Chen,
Allan Ding, and
Maxwell Yee. The epeeists also posted a 7-2 record with seniors
Safi Haider,
Malcolm Miller,
Isaac Shelanski, and
Mati Zeff going undefeated. The saber squad handled their bouts ably, going 6-3 with all members winning the majority of their matches.

The Bulldogs then faced off against Sacred Heart, also winning 20-7. The saber squad swept their matches against the Pioneers, with
Kevin Callahan,
Elijah Hong, and
Andrew Zhang all going undefeated. The foilists posted a 6-3 record with
Earnest Chen and
Allan Ding going undefeated. The epee squad was also victorious, with
Malcolm Miller and
Isaac Shelanski going undefeated again, meaning that both seniors managed a perfect record during their final home meet.Â

Following the bouts, the Bulldogs recognized the contributions of the graduating seniors: foilist

Isaac Shelanski. Joined by friends and family as they were honored with applause and flowers, the Bulldogs wish all of their seniors the best with whatever is to come. The seniors have served the team well as mentors, friends, and teammates.
