NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The No. 3 Yale Women's Squash Team captured third place today at the national championships by defeating No. 4 Trinity, 5-4.
This contest came down to the fifth position with Yale's
Aishwarya Bhattacharya battling Trinity's Nadiia Usenko. After losing the second game, the Bulldog junior won 11-9 in the third and 11-7 in the fifth before being mobbed by her teammates, who had all long finished their matches.
At the No. 1 spot,
Lucy Beecroft won a 37-minute match in four games, but the most dominating performances came lower on the ladder.
Riya Mital and
Nikita Joshi both dispatched their opponents at the seventh and ninth positions, respectively, in less than 25 minutes.
Gigi Yeung, who was on court for a five-game contest, also had a big win at No. 6, taking the finale 11-9.
