NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale women's tennis team made a strong showing on the national stage at the Blue Gray Classic over the weekend. It seems the Bulldogs made an impression on the national voters as well. Yale is ranked No. 35 in this week's Oracle/ITA Division I Women's Poll.
At the Blue Gray Classic, the Bulldogs knocked off a pair of SEC schools in No. 47 Alabama (4-2) and No. 48 Auburn (4-2), while dropping a hard-fought 4-1 decision to No. 11 Princeton.
Yale currently sits at 8-3 on the spring season. The Bulldogs also reached the final of the ECAC Indoor Championship earlier this month, falling to No. 21 Columbia 4-3 in a thrilling match.
Yale features the No. 3-ranked doubles team of
Jessie Gong and
Samantha Martinelli, while Martinelli sits at No. 46 in the singles rankings.
The Bulldogs will have more opportunities to test themselves in the weeks ahead. No. 4 Texas, No. 11 Princeton, No. 18 Miami, No. 21 Columbia and No. 25 Central Florida are all on the schedule.
