NORFOLK, Va. -- The Bulldogs blasted six homers and pounded out 18 hits in a 19-7 win at Old Dominion on Sunday afternoon.
Jake Gehri and
Brian Ronai each had two homers. Gehri went 5 for 5, drove in seven with with seven RBI.
With Yale up 1-0 entering the third, the Bulldogs plated five runs in the third.
Carson Swank, who is hitting .400 in his first 25 at bats, had two hits today including a run-scoring single to score
Harry Hegeman for the first run of the third.
Hegeman stole second and third to set up the run and finished with four stolen bases on the day to go with three runs scored.
Gehri and
Teddy Hague went back to back with homers. Gehri delivered a two-run shot to score Swank and Hague followed with a solo blast.
Alex Stiegler, one of six Bulldogs with at least two hits today, drew a bases loaded walk in the fifth to give Yale a 6-0 lead.
Ben Gibbs started and tossed four scoreless innings before allowing three runs in the fifth.
Tyler Sapsford came on to get the final out, went two more innings and gave up one run to earn the victory.
Gehri got the runs back for Yale in the sixth with a two-run triple and finished a double short of the cycle.
The Bulldogs added more insurance runs in the seventh and eighth with four homers. Ronai added a solo homer in the seventh and later in the inning Gehri had a three-run home run. In the eighth, Ronai added another solo shot and
AJ Gaich delivered a three-run blast for his first collegiate homer.
The Bulldogs return to action on Friday to face Ball State in Charleston, S.C.
