Yale Senior Captain Earns Fourth Honor

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The captain of the Yale Women's Squash Team, Lucy Beecroft, completed a great collegiate career by earning CSA First-Team All-America honors.
Beecroft won her first-round match at the 2020 CSA Individual National Championships by sweeping her University of Virginia opponent to make the top eight.

"It has been an honor to represent Yale over the past four years. I am very happy with how my final season finished, with the best team finish in my time at Yale, coming in third at nationals, and getting the first team All-Ivy and All-American awards for the fourth year in a row," said Beecroft. "I have so many great memories from representing Yale Squash that will stay with me forever."

Beecroft, a Newcastle, England, native, finished 4-2 in Ivy matches, including a 3-0 win in 24 minutes at Penn that helped the Elis win 5-4.

"I plan on playing professionally after graduation and look forward to carrying on my squash career on the professional world tour," said Beecroft, who played No. 1 for Yale the last three years after spending her rookie campaign as the No. 2.

"Lucy has been a tremendous story for Yale over these four years, and first-team All-American is deserved," said David Talbott, Yale's Brooks G. Ragen Director of Squash. "On and off the court, Lucy shined in her four years.  Lucy matched her great play with her leadership off the court as well.  She leaves a big mark on Yale Squash."
