STAMFORD, Conn. – Yale All-Americans
Matt Gaudet and
Aidan Hynes had their names called at another professional draft this spring. Gaudet, an attackman, was the fifth overall pick by Chaos in the second annual Premier Lacrosse League Draft tonight. Hynes, a defenseman, was picked 10
th overall by Atlas.
Both Bulldogs had been selected a week ago in the Major League Lacrosse Draft.
Gaudet's selection was announced on NBC Sports Network by Chaos head coach Andy Towers, who said, "Matt finishes everything inside and gives us an awesome goal scorer who will fit in perfectly with our scheme."
Gaudet, who was taken by the Philadelphia Barrage in the third round of the 2020 MLL Draft, was on the Tewaaraton Award Watch List for the second season in a row this year, while he was a pre-season All-New England First-Team pick. His career-high seven goals and eight points in a win over Michigan put him on the USILA Team of the Week and sent notice that he was on the way to another big season before it suddenly ended. Gaudet was second in the nation with 4.5 goals per game this year.
The PLL, which has seven teams, plans a "fully quarantined and fanless" championship series beginning on July 25 on NBCSN.
Ben Rubeor, the head coach of Atlas, announced the selection of Hynes in the second round. "Aidan is a proven winner and a defenseman who can do a little of everything," said Rubeor.
Hynes was the eighth selection in the second round of the MLL Draft by the Connecticut Hammerheads. The Mahopac, N.Y., native earned All-America and Ivy League honors for the Bulldogs.
Three Bulldogs are currently on PLL rosters, including Mark Glicini '16 (Chaos), Ben Reeves '18 (Waterdogs) and Tyler Warner '18 (Waterdogs).
