INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Ben Reeves, the most prolific scorer in the history of Yale Lacrosse, has been awarded a $10,000 scholarship for part-time or full-time graduate study at a university or professional school by the NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship Committee.
Reeves, a molecular, cellular and developmental biology major who helped his alma mater win its first NCAA Championship in lacrosse while also winning the Tewaaraton Award, is an
MD/PhD Candidate working in the Yale School of Medicine's Department of Neurosurgery.
"Yale provided me with endless opportunities, both athletic and academic, as well as the freedom to pursue both," said Reeves. "My coaches were flexible when it came to conflicts between class or lab and practice, and my professors were always supportive of my athletic pursuits. In addition, the support for athletics coming from the administration was overwhelming, which made it easy for us athletes to succeed. I cannot thank Yale enough for the opportunities and support it has provided me throughout my time as a student-athlete and medical student."
The attackman from Macedon, N.Y., was presented with the NCAA Top 10 Award in 2019 after setting school records for career goals (174), assists (142) and points (316). Reeves was a three-time All-American and first team All-Ivy League selection with a pair of Ivy League Player of the Year trophies.
The Yale legend has played in both Major League Lacrosse and the Premier Lacrosse League since graduating.
