Ierlan, Gaudet, Morrill Taken in NLL Draft

Box League Picks Three All-American Bulldogs

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The National Lacrosse League entry draft took place yesterday and three All-American Bulldogs from the Class of 2020 were part of the transactions.

TD Ierlan, who has one more Yale season remaining, was a compensatory selection in round two by the Toronto Rock. They used the 30th pick for the most prolific face-off man in college history and a finalist for the 2019 Tewaaraton Award. Ierlan was the first Eli drafted with the first overall pick in the MLL Draft when his home state New York Lizards made their choice last spring.

Attackman Matt Gaudet, who played in the Premier Lacrosse League this summer for Chrome, was a third-rounder (47th overall) for the Halifax Thunderbirds. Gaudet had eight goals on 16 shots in five games during 2020 PLL play. He was taken by the Philadelphia Barrage in the third round of the 2020 MLL Draft after being a Tewaaraton Award Watch List player for the second season in a row.

The other Eli who was part of the NLL Draft was 2020 captain Jackson Morrill, who decided to finish his college career at Denver in 2021. Morrill was the 72nd pick (5th round) by the Calgary Roughnecks after finished second at Yale in career points with 220 and fifth in goals with 113.
