NEW HAVEN, Conn. – After playing five straight games away from home, the Yale men's basketball team returns to the friendly confines of the John J. Lee Amphitheater on Sunday to host Stony Brook. Tip off is slated for 1 p.m. and the game airs on ESPN+ and NESN.

The Bulldogs are 2-0 at home on the season with an average margin of victory of 33.5 points, including a 20-point win over UMass. Yale has now won 10 straight games against non-conference opponents in Lee Amphitheater. The last home loss to a non-Ivy opponent came against Monmouth (85-64) on Dec. 22, 2017. That is part of what has been a dominant stretch for the Bulldogs at home. Over the last eight seasons, they are 82-20 at Lee.

Sunday begins a busy stretch of home games. Four of Yale's seven games in the month of December will be played in Lee, a rarity in recent years.

The Bulldogs are coming off a 69-56 victory over Milwaukee at the Rocket Mortgage Fort Myers Tip Off on Wednesday. Yale got significant contribution from a number of sources. Yale's bench outscored Milwaukee's reserves 28-8. Michael Feinberg (12 points) and EJ Jarvis (10 points) led the effort, both finishing with career highs. In addition, Azar Swain contributed 16 points and Eze Dike, who was named to the all-tournament team, had 10 points, six assists and zero turnovers.

Swain has now scored in double figures in all seven games and is averaging 21.0 points over his last four games. Swain, who scored the 1,000th point of his outstanding career earlier this season at Siena, is approaching another milestone. His 215 career three-pointers are 14 shy of Ed Petersen's all-time school record.

Swain leads the Bulldogs in scoring at 17.9 ppg. Matthue Cotton (11.0 ppg.) also averages double figures. Jalen Gabbidon (5.7rpg.) is the Bulldogs' leading rebounder.

Yale is the Ivy League leader in field goal percentage defense (.383) and is second in scoring defense (64.6 ppg.).

HISTORY LESSONS

Yale and Stony Brook are playing for the first time in New Haven and only the third time overall. The last meeting was the 2019-20 season opener, which the Bulldogs won 74-69 in overtime on Long Island. Swain was one of three Bulldogs in double figures with 17 points. The only other meeting between the teams came at the 2001 Red Auerbach Classic at George Washington, an 82-62 Yale victory.

SCOUTING STONY BROOK

The Seawolves (1-3) are playing their third straight Connecticut opponent. They knocked off Sacred Heart 75-72 last Monday and then lost an 83-78 overtime decision at Fairfield on Wednesday. Anthony Roberts (15.3 ppg.) and Jahlil Jenkins (11.3 ppg.) both average double figures in scoring. Tykei Greene (8.3 rpg.) is the team's top rebounder. Stony Brook was picked to finish first in America East by the league's 10 head coaches.
