NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale men's basketball team kicks off a busy month at Lee Amphitheater by hosting Lehigh on Wednesday night. Tip off is slated for 7 p.m. and ESPN+ has the video.

Yale, ranked No. 25 in this week's CollegeInsider Mid-Major poll, has four home games in December, a rarity in recent years. The Bulldogs (4-4) also host Albany (Dec. 7), Monmouth (Dec. 14) and Howard (Dec. 23) this month. Yale is coming off an 85-81 loss to preseason America East favorite Stony Brook on Sunday that snapped a 10-game home winning streak vs. non-conference opponents dating back to 2017.

The Seawolves shot 53.7 percent from the field on Sunday, the first time all season an opponent shot better than 50 percent against Yale. In fact, the Bulldogs had held five of their first seven opponents under 40 percent. Yale remains second in the Ivy League in scoring defense (67.1 ppg.) and field goal percentage defense (.401).

Five Bulldogs scored in double figures vs. Stony Brook, led by Azar Swain, who had 22 points. Yale has had at least four double figure scorers in each of its last three games.

The offense has received a boost from the return of EJ Jarvis. Jarvis, who missed the first five games due to injury, posted career highs in each of his last two games, scoring 13 vs. Stony Brook after tallying 10 in the win over Milwaukee last week in Florida.

Eze Dike, who was named to the Ivy League Honor Roll on Monday after being selected to the Rocket Mortgage Fort Myers Tip Off all-tournament team, is averaging 10.7 points over his last three games. In addition, he had a career-high six assists without a turnover in the victory over Milwaukee.

Swain, who leads the Bulldogs and is second in the Ivy League in scoring at 18.4 ppg., has scored 21 or more points in four of his last five games.

Next up for the Bulldogs is a trip to Alabama to face Auburn on Saturday. Tip is slated for 2 p.m. EST and the game will be televised nationally on ESPNU.

HISTORY LESSONS

Yale has won the last five meetings with Lehigh and leads the all-time series 12-8. The Bulldogs won the last meeting 78-65 at Stabler Arena early in the 2019-20 season, outscoring the Mountain Hawks 12-2 over the final three minutes to pull away. Swain scored 19 points to pace Yale, which also got strong contributions from Jalen Gabbidon (nine points) and Jameel Alausa (seven points). The Bulldogs have won two straight over Lehigh at Lee Amphitheater, including a wild, 97-87 win in 2018. The first meeting between the teams came in 1904.

SCOUTING LEHIGH

Yale is the second Ivy League opponent for the Mountain Hawks, who beat Columbia 79-73 at home on Nov 23. Lehigh (1-6) is coming off a 79-68 loss to St. Francis (Pa.) on Sunday. The Mountain Hawks fell at Virginia 61-43 last Friday and opened the season with an overtime loss at Rutgers. Jeameril Wilson (12.6 ppg.) leads the team in scoring. Evan Taylor (10.7 ppg.) and Marques Wilson (10.1 ppg.) also average double figures. Lehigh head coach Brett Reed is one victory away from passing former Bucknell head coach Pat Flannery for the second most overall victories in Patriot League history. Reed is currently at 234 wins.
